Collaboration - Project Initiation

Our website provides an overview on the available technologies and infrastructures for genetic and chemical screening campaigns within ETH with the goal to support the research community with the setup and conduct of their screening campaigns. Therefore, we provide our integrated expertise to enable, streamline and perform these campaigns through the different ETH technology platforms.

Initiation of a screening campaign

Screening@ETH can be accessed by contacting any of the collaborating ETH technology platforms. After an initial informal discussion with one of the platforms, a kick-off meeting with all relevant platform representatives takes place and a project hosting platform is defined based on the technological requirements of the screen.

In a next step, the project hosting platform assigns a project coordinator who will serve as a point of contact and coordinates the interaction between the platforms involved, and assist the user with all organizational aspects of the screen.

Together with the user, the project coordinator will work out a more detailed plan of the screen that will include required testing, cost estimates, timelines, milestones or regular project meetings.

Once the user agrees to this plan, a single offer is prepared in which all involved platforms individually quote their services. Once the user approves the project, the screening campaign can be started given that all requirements (e.g. assay robustness, pre-tests etc.) have been met.

Supported screening campaigns

- Biochemical screens
- Cell-based genetic screens (e.g. CRISPR, shRNA, siRNA)
- Cell-based chemical/drug screens
- Screening advanced cell systems (e.g. 3D-spheroids, organoids)
